History


 

     FMI was founded in 1992 by Kevin H. Rhodes in a 10,000 square foot facility in Easton , PA.  FMI originally focused on providing contract-manufacturing services to the commercial fragrance industry. 

     In late 1995, a customer asked FMI to fill bottles with massage oil. The customer was having trouble finding a reliable, high quality source to fill small volumes (1000 to 2500 bottles) of this product line.  Even though we did not have any bottle filling equipment, the customer knew that if we made a commitment to do the job, she would receive the filled bottles as promised.  This request led to the beginning of FMI’s involvement in the personal care consumer products industry.   

     Rapid growth required expansion to 16,000 square feet in 1997 and to 20,000 square feet in 1998.  By late 2000, it was apparent that demand for our “short-run” services was sufficient to undertake a significant capacity investment.

     In October, 2001, FMI successfully moved into a 52,000 square foot facility in Allentown , PA.  Along with this move, we made major infrastructure  improvements, including the following:

  • Engineered plant layout for smooth flow of materials and cGMP.
  • Increased lab space dramatically.
  • Implemented inventory location tracking system.
  • Recruited several experienced managers.
  • Installed several new pieces of operational equipment.





     From the beginning, FMI has grown by providing big company capabilities with small company attention. With our new facility and continuing improvements, we are ensuring our ability to support our growing customer needs.
